Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
I looked out to see Adam arguing with Max and Kat. I had no idea how they all ended up here, but Adam looked furious.
I rushed downstairs, almost bumping into Theo at the bottom. He must have heard the shouting too, we both rushed outside.
‘I told you both to leave Tanya alone, she doesn’t want anything more to do with you. It’s thanks to you she almost died!’ Adam roared.
I was pretty sure half the neighborhood could have probably heard the argument.
‘You can’t tell us what we can and can’t do. We want to see our daughter so we will.’ Max shouted back.
They all stopped and looked round when they seen me and Theo standing there in shock. Max and Kat went to come towards me but Adam ran over and stood between us.
‘Don’t you dare go near my girl.’ Adam growled through gritted teeth. But not the sexy growl like I had heard before, an angry one.
‘You move out of my way. You are no good for my daughter, you’re a bad influence. Now move out of my way.’ Max said as he stepped closer.
Adam lost control completely, his arm swung out, the next thing I knew Max was flying backwards to the ground. Adam had punched him real good on the jaw. Max yelled in pain as he rolled around on the ground.
I was in shock, I had never ever seen Adam like that before. He scared me, a lot like this. I knew how much he hated Max and Kat, but I didn’t think he would do something like this.
Kat looked in fear aswell, so did Max. She helped him up to his feet again, he was bleeding but Adam didn’t seem to care.
‘Leave. Now. I never want to see you near my girl again, or I won’t be responsible for my actions again.’ He said firmly.
‘I should call the police on you, you bastard.’
‘Go ahead. I will tell them you were harassing Tanya, how you stalked her home the first time and how you left her at such a young age in the care home. Then we will see who get’s longest in prison.’
Adam hit a nerve with Max, the both of them turned and sulked off.

When I turned around, I seen the fear in Tanya’s eyes. She ran upstairs as I went to go closer to her.
What had I done?
Theo dragged me inside and cleaned up my hand, which was a bit sore. But I don’t regret it. When I came walking up to the house and seen them away to knock on the door, I wish I had done it earlier.
‘You lost it big time there mate.’ Theo said as he finished helping my hand.
‘He deserved it. I told them to not go near her again, but they just don’t listen.’
I was still angry, I knew I had to calm down. Before I went upstairs to see to Tanya.
‘I’ve never seen you that angry before Adam. I think you really scared Tanya.’
I looked up at Theo, my heart sank a little. Then I realized the fear in her eyes were from seeing me like that, not really the fact that Max and Kat were there.
‘I have to go see her.’
I went upstairs quickly, her door was shut but I opened it and slid inside. She was sat on her bed under the covers, huddled up with her knees tucked under her chin.
She glanced up when she seen me, I couldn’t really read her face, but I knew she was a bit scared. Of me. I felt all my anger drain out of me, now I just felt a hint of guilt and so much adoration for her.
I went closer to her, as I did I seen her tense up a little. That hurt.
I sat on the bottom of her bed and looked at her. I didn’t really know what to say or do.
‘Are you ok sweetheart?’ I said quietly.
She still didn’t say anything. Just nodded a little.
‘I couldn’t let them touch you, it was the only thing I could think of to do.’ I started to explain.
‘You scared me.’ She said really quietly.
My heart felt so heavy right now.
‘I know baby, I didn’t mean to. I wish you didn’t have to see me like that, I just. Lose it sometimes. I hate them. That’s why I hit him, I couldn’t let him touch you, I just couldn’t. But I love you Tanya. I would never ever hurt you or lay a finger on you. You know that right?’
Her face softened, I felt relief flood over me once again.
‘I know… I just, I’ve never seen you like that before.’
‘I know sweetheart, it doesn’t come out often, I promise. Just when some bastards like them mess with my girl.’
‘I don’t think they will be bugging us again.’ She said with a small smile.
I grinned and moved up the bed closer to her. I placed my hand on her cheek.
‘No, they won’t be. I’m just sorry I couldn’t keep my promise, that you wouldn’t have to see them again.’
‘Don’t be sorry, Adam.’
She placed her hand over mine, keeping it there for a while. I leaned forward and kissed her forehead.
‘You get some rest alright sweetie? It’s been a long day for you. I’ll come join you in a few, I’m going to go speak with Theo alright?’
She nodded and smiled as I stood up to go back downstairs. I was so relieved everything was fine. We could finally start getting back to normal.
‘How is she?’ Theo asked when I went downstairs.
‘She’s fine, luckily.’
‘Good, can I leave you two alone then? I said to Louise I would go round once things were sorted here. She’s pretty worried so I have to fill her in.’
‘Yeah, we’ll be fine now. Thanks Theo.’
I went upstairs just after he left, I was dying to get a good sleep with my girl tonight. These past two days had been hectic.
When I went into Tanya’s room she was fast asleep. She looked so cute, she was curled up and her mouth was parted slightly. I took off my shirt and trousers, before I climbed into bed I placed a gentle kiss on her cheek.
‘I love you Tanya, sweet dreams.’
A tiny smile spread across her lips, I knew she heard me, but I also knew she was still asleep.
Once I climbed into bed I lay right behind her with my arms wrapped around her.
I sure hoped that all this drama was over, I don’t know if I could cope seeing her upset anymore after these few days.
